My kids go back to school full-time today. This is great. This is fantastic. This is amazing. And...this is bittersweet.
For the last year, they've been with me just about every day as they work on school and I work from home. While there have been frustrating moments (usually brought on when I forgot to split myself into three different people), I have truly enjoyed being with them.
Today is another good reminder of the power of the statement, "You're gonna miss this."
During those moments of frustration, when I felt like I was doing everything poorly, I knew I was going to miss the time we were spending together. During those moments of overwhelm, where I literally couldn't be in three places at once, I knew I was going to miss being counted on to help. During these moments, I tried to remind myself, "You're gonna miss this."
I haven't even taken them to school yet, and I already miss the idea of having them around.
If you find yourself in one of those moments today, remember, this too shall pass. There will come a day when you look back and miss what was frustrating or overwhelming you today.
And if you're a parent, and your kid is going back to school today, this one's for you.
Make it a great day!
